Our mission and vision

Unlocking human potential through the trades.

AITS exists to unlock human potential through hands-on education—expanding access, strengthening independent trade schools, and equipping instructors to help more people build skills, confidence, purpose, and opportunity.

Our vision

Human potential should not go unrealized.

Our vision is an America where hands-on talent has a pathway to grow, people who learn differently can find their way forward, and communities are strengthened by what their people can do.

More than a job. A way to move forward.

Learning to build, repair, design, or make can change how a person sees their future. We value a first finished project, growing independence, a renewed sense of purpose, and a pathway toward meaningful work.

Our mission spans young people discovering their strengths, adults building a new direction, and learners whose needs call for more accessible teaching. Essential safety and technical standards remain part of that promise.

Why independent trade schools?

They are the point where knowledge becomes practice. AITS’s approach pairs educational access with the capacity to teach well: support the learner, equip the instructor, and strengthen the learning experience.

Our long-term ambition is a model that schools can adapt across trades and communities. We are beginning with an existing scholarship fund, free draft teaching tools, and proposed pilots designed to build the evidence for that growth.

How we intend to make it happen

Complementary work, distinct organizations

AITS is developing instructor support and educational access. 1848 describes a community model connecting discovery, training, employers, and practical support, with America’s Family as its nonprofit home.

Kilroy’s Workshop is the planned instructor-development delivery partner. These are separate organizations. Links do not imply shared ownership, interchangeable donation accounts, or committed services.
